After teaching yoga at a local studio for several years, Janet Seidel was ready to take the big step of forming her own studio, tailored to an online audience. She needed a new design from scratch for her new business that showcased all of her classes offered, information about herself and background, a video library, and a booking system for classes. It was important from the start to weave her peaceful, serene personality throughout the site. This was achieved through specific color tones, carefully selected scenic imagery, and peaceful images taken of herself.
The design language extended into a full day & night theme system. Visitors can switch the entire site between the two by clicking the sun or moon icon next to the logo. Both modes were treated as first-class brand expressions, with their own palettes and matching imagery, so a morning visitor and a late-night visitor each find a mood that fits. A small in-page invitation surfaces the toggle the first time it shows up, so the feature is discoverable without ever getting in the way.
The site was built mobile-first from the beginning. Janet's audience is just as likely to find her on a phone between classes as on a laptop at home, and the typography, spacing, and imagery were all tuned so the brand's calm mood holds together at every screen size, including the bottom-up rebuild of the home screen for narrow viewports.
Janet was fully collaborative throughout the entire process, which in addition to making it enjoyable every step of the way, ensured she got the site she truly desired. We're most proud of this collaboration and how clearly the site presents everything she offers. We're also proud of how seamlessly the booking system was integrated into the site and how it has been an integral part of getting people to her classes. It was also very fun and enjoyable for us to get the video library integrated within the site.
