Overview
Background

Blink Your Life is a memory app created by us for the details that fall through the cracks of daily life. It started with a familiar frustration (cleaning the whole house, putting something away properly, then never finding it again and buying a replacement a week before the original turned up), and grew from there after a poor experience with a service company we wanted to remember never to use again. With those two in mind, we settled on the final thing to address: a daily to-do list that keeps each day as efficient as possible. The goal became simple: one private place to be the memory for the crucial details of day-to-day life.

The app is built around three modules and one search box. Reminders holds the quick to-dos that need a nudge, with a time or a repeat (daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly) and a notification that happens on the device itself. Remember holds the details you look up months later: clothing sizes, the favorite and not so favorite brands, paint colors, the furnace filter, the restaurant order that was perfect. Find holds where you physically put things, down to the drawer, with a photo if you like, filterable by location and category. A Home dashboard shows what is due today and the latest saves, and one search covers all three. Blink, a small friendly owl with a very sharp memory, is the face of it. To ensure a fully customizable experience, Blink's voice can be set to Cheerful, Warm, or Plain.

Under the hood it is two projects. The first is the app itself. Rather than building it twice, once for Apple and once for Android, we built it as a single codebase (Ionic Vue and Capacitor) that installs and runs as a native app on iPhone, iPad, and Android, and the sign-in credentials are kept in the secure keychain on the device rather than in plain storage. The second is the service behind it: a secure backend (a Laravel API) that holds every entry and photo, is the only thing that ever touches the database, and talks to the app over an encrypted connection. Subscriptions are billed by the App Store and Google Play, with RevenueCat keeping the plan on each account in sync, and a private admin panel lets us look up a user, manage plans, review error reports, and get a weekly stats email. Password reset is a six-digit code inside the app, account deletion is one tap in Settings, and every part of the app is tested and locked to the account that owns it.

The launch site at blinkyourlife.com is custom HTML and CSS built on the app's own colors, type, and spacing, so the site and the app read as one product. Beyond the homepage there are four landing pages written for the people who need it most (ADHD, forgetful people, busy parents, and seniors), a support page with a schema-marked FAQ, privacy/terms, an account deletion page that Google Play requires, and a blog built and waiting behind noindex until it launches. Structured data describes the app, its screenshots, and its pricing to search engines; the App Store smart banner, Open Graph images, a sitemap, clean URLs, and long cache lifetimes round it out.

The site went live in August 2026 and the app reached the App Store in September 2026, free for the first 30 entries and Unlimited for $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. The Android app is in the works and coming soon to Google Play.

Highlights
Key moves
  • Three modules and one search: Reminders (when), Remember (what), and Find (where)
  • One codebase that runs as a native app on iPhone, iPad, and Android (built with Ionic Vue and Capacitor)
  • A secure backend (a Laravel API) that holds all the data; the app never touches the database directly
  • Free and Unlimited plans billed through the App Store and Google Play, kept in sync by RevenueCat
  • On-device reminder notifications, including recurring reminders that come back on their own
  • Photos on any Remember or Find entry, private to the account and removed with it on deletion
  • A custom launch site with four audience landing pages and full structured data
What I handled
  • Product concept, naming, and the Blink owl brand
  • App UX + UI design (tabs, dashboard, entry flows, paywall)
  • Ionic Vue + Capacitor app build for iOS, iPad, and Android
  • Laravel API, database design, auth, and security hardening
  • In-app subscriptions via RevenueCat, App Store, and Google Play
  • Admin panel, command-line tooling, and weekly stats reporting
  • App Store listing, screenshots, and release, plus Google Play prep
  • Launch website design + custom build
  • On-page SEO, structured data, and analytics for the site
Launch Site
The site that launches it

Blinkyourlife.com is custom HTML and CSS built on the same colors, type, and spacing as the app, so the two read as one product. The homepage presents the idea in a sentence, shows the three real screens, and lists the little things people swear they will remember. Four more landing pages speak directly to ADHD readers, forgetful people, busy parents, and seniors, each with its own scenarios and FAQ.

The homepage screens section: three real app screens, each opening into a swipeable lightbox.

Results
Results
  • Live on the App Store for iPhone and iPad; Android coming soon on Google Play
  • Three kinds of memory (to-dos, details, and where things are) behind one search box
  • A launch site whose pages each target the people who need the app most, with their own search intent
